Verifying Average Dwell Time by Solving Optimization Problems

چکیده
In the switched system model, discrete mechanisms of a hybrid system are abstracted away in terms of an exogenous switching signal which brings about the mode switches. The Average Dwell time (ADT) property defines restricted classes of switching signals which provide sufficient conditions for proving stability of switched systems. In this paper, we use a specialization of the Hybrid I/O Automaton model to capture both the discrete and the continuous mechanisms of hybrid systems. Based on this model, we develop methods for automatically verifying ADT properties and present simulation relations for establishing equivalence of hybrid systems with respect to ADT. Given a candidate ADT for a hybrid system, we formulate an optimization problem; a solution of this problem either establishes the ADT property or gives an execution fragment of the system that violates it. For two special classes of hybrid systems, we show that the corresponding optimization problems can be solved using standard mathematical programming techniques. We formally define equivalence of two hybrid systems with respect to ADT and present a simulation relation-based method for proving this equivalence. The proposed methods are applied to verify ADT properties of a linear hysteresis switch and a nondeterministic thermostat.

A novel technique for a class of singular boundary value problems
In this paper, Lagrange interpolation in Chebyshev-Gauss-Lobatto nodes is used to develop a procedure for finding discrete and continuous approximate solutions of a singular boundary value problem. At first, a continuous time optimization problem related to the original singular boundary value problem is proposed. Then, using the Chebyshev- Gauss-Lobatto nodes, we convert the continuous time op...
متن کاملImpulsively-controlled systems and reverse dwell time: a linear programming approach
We present a receding horizon algorithm that converges to the exact solution in polynomial time for a class of optimal impulse control problems with uniformly distributed impulse instants and governed by so-called reverse dwell time conditions. The cost has two separate terms, one depending on time and the second monotonically decreasing on the state norm. The obtained results have both theoret...
متن کاملAn approach to Improve Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm Using CUDA
The time consumption in solving computationally heavy problems has always been a concern for computer programmers. Due to simplicity of its implementation, the PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) is a suitable meta-heuristic algorithm for solving computationally heavy problems. However, despite the simplicity, the algorithm is inefficient for solving real computationally heavy problems but the pr...
متن کاملImproved teaching–learning-based and JAYA optimization algorithms for solving flexible flow shop scheduling problems
Flexible flow shop (or a hybrid flow shop) scheduling problem is an extension of classical flow shop scheduling problem. In a simple flow shop configuration, a job having ‘g’ operations is performed on ‘g’ operation centres (stages) with each stage having only one machine. If any stage contains more than one machine for providing alternate processing facility, then the problem...
متن کاملH∞ Static Output Feedback Control for Discrete-time Switched Linear Systems with Average Dwell Time
Abstract—This paper investigates the problem of H∞ static output feedback (SOF) control for discrete-time switched linear systems with average dwell time switching. By using the multiple Lyapunov function technique, a switched SOF controller is designed such that the closed-loop system is exponentially stable and achieves a weighted L2-gain. Sufficient conditions for SOF control are derived and...
